Elections

The Annual SISO Election Cycle is underway.  The deadline for self-nominations is January 3, 2025.

SISO Election Schedule:

  • Self-Nominations: 26 November to 3 January 
  • Voting Period: 6 to 31 January 
  • Results Announced: Early February
  • Officer Elections (PRP, CC, SAC, EXCOM): Early February
  • New terms officially begin: 1 March

SISO Election Committee

All self-nominations, as well as the final slate of candidates and the election results, will be reviewed and verified by the members of the SISO Election Committee: Kenneth "Crash" Konwin, Mark McCall and Christopher Metevier.

Open Positions

There are 3 openings on the Executive Committee (EXCOM), 5 openings on the Conference Committee (CC) and 5 openings on the Standards Activity Committee (SAC). In addition, as approved by the Conference Committee, there are 7 openings on each of the three Planning and Review Panels (PRPs).

All Committee and PRP terms will officially commence on March 1 of each year. 

Committee and PRP members help to shape the future of SISO. Your input, time, and service are needed and welcomed.  If you are interested in serving, please consider filling one of the projected vacancies.

Executive Committee (EXCOM)

  • EXCOM Members are elected to 3 year terms.
  • The primary responsibility of the EXCOM is to provide overall governance, strategic planning, policy, and oversight of policy implementation and general processes within SISO.

Standards Activity Committee (SAC)

  • SAC Members are elected to 2 year terms.
  • The primary responsibility of the SAC is to provide overall management of the SISO product development process.

Conference Committee (CC)

  • CC Members are elected to 2 year terms.
  • The primary responsibility of the CC is to organize and manage the annual workshops and to promote the standardization of interoperable simulations across the M&S community.

Planning and Review Panels (PRPs)

  • All PRP terms are for 1 year.
  • The primary responsibility of PRP members is to coordinate the overall planning for a Track, including soliciting, reviewing, and managing abstracts, papers and presentations.

Tracks/Forums

  • System Lifecycle and Technologies (SLT) encompasses information that provides guidance on the selection and use of M&S standards and practices to support the system lifecycle. 
  • Services, Processes, Tools, and Data (SVCS) includes technologies, frameworks, and methodologies that provide service or support for modeling and simulation. 
  • M&S Specialty Topics (SPEC) includes simulation technologies for a specific purpose such as system/vehicle or weapon product development, space, human behavior, or command and control systems. 

Limitations (per SISO Policy & Procedures)

  • Candidates may be elected to only one of the three main committees (EXCOM, SAC, CC).
  • One may not serve more than two consecutive terms on the same main committee (EXCOM, SAC, CC).
  • One may not serve on the CC and as a PRP chair.
  • One may not serve on the SAC and as a PDG chair.

The deadline for self-nominations is January 3, 2025.  Please consider self-nominating for a leadership role within SISO!
