• Provide overall management of product development and support activities
• Promote standardization of technologies that enable development, implementation, and interoperability of simulations
• Provide oversight of SISO study, development, and support groups chartered for specific purposes
• Serve as the C/SI SISO SAC Standards Committee of the IEEE Computer Society Standards Activities Board, to oversee development and support of SISO-sponsored IEEE Standards
• Serve as SISO's primary contact for all IEEE Standards Association standards activities
• Liaison with ISO/IEC JTC1/SC24
• Liaison with NATO Modelling and Simulation Group (NMSG)
• Oversee the Shared Public Specification program
• Individual SAC members serve as Technical Activity Directors (TADs) who liaise between SAC and the groups that SAC oversees. TADs are responsible for advising groups on how to meet the requirements of SISO's policies and procedures.

Members and Officers

There are eleven elected members of the SAC, ten elected at large and the Vice Chair of the Conference Committee.  The elected members of the SAC serve two-year terms. The Chair of the SAC may recommend the appointment of additional SISO members to the SAC.  All SAC members, both elected and appointed, are voting members.  Each year, the SAC elects a Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary, who each serve a term of one year.

The SAC Chair reports to and serves as an ex officio member of the SISO Executive Committee. The SAC Chair or Vice Chair serve on the IEEE Computer Society Standards Activities Board and chair the Computer/Simulation Interoperability (C/SI) Standards Committee. The SAC Chair also serves as the SAC Liaison to the International Organization for Standardization, Computer Graphics, Image Processing and Environmental Data Representation Subcommittee (ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 24). 

The SAC Vice Chair assists the Chair and conducts meetings when the Chair is unavailable.  The SAC Vice Chair serves as an ex officio member of the SISO Conference Committee. The SAC Secretary is responsible for supporting, organizing, documenting, and archiving SAC activities. Minutes from SAC meetings provide a history of SAC activities.
