Policies & Procedures

These are the Administrative Documents which outline SISO Policies and Procedures.  Please note that SISO-ADM-002 and SISO-ADM-003 are being comprehensively revised.

SISO-ADM-001-2018: Policy for Product Identification
Products developed by the Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization (SISO) require unique product identifiers. These product identifiers provide an unambiguous reference for a published product. This is critical for configuration management of the products, making them visible and discoverable, and immediately recognizable by users. This document provides the format, scheme, and controls for the unique identification of SISO Products.

SISO-ADM-002-2017: SISO Policies & Procedures (update approved Jun 19 2017)
This Policies and Procedures (P&P) document provides the definition of SISO and its procedures for operation. Key SISO concepts are summarized here with further details provided within the main body of the document.

SISO-ADM-003-2011: SISO Balloted Products Development and Support Process (BPDSP) (update approved 14 Nov 11)
The SISO Standards Activity Committee (SAC) manages the development of SISO Products according to the SISO General Operating Principles, Technical Acceptance Principles and Standards Principles as stated in the SISO Policies & Procedures (P&P) and mentioned throughout this document.

SISO-ADM-003.1-2017:  Ballot Group Balancing – Changing Representation Category (update approved 12 Nov 2017)   The purpose of this document is to clarify criteria for identifying and changing an individual’s representation category during the process of balancing balloting groups. This document provides those criteria until they can be incorporated into the next update to the BPDSP.

SISO-ADM-004-2009: SISO Vision Document
SISO will serve the global community of modeling and simulation professionals, providing an open forum for the collegial exchange of ideas, the examination and advancement of M&S-related technologies and practices, and the development of standards and other products that enable greater M&S capability, interoperability, credibility, reuse, and cost-effectiveness.

SISO-ADM-005-2011: The Style and Format of SISO Documents (update approved 13 Jun 11)
It is important that all SISO products reflect a consistent level of content and format.  This SISO Administrative Document establishes guidelines for the overall outline and format required for the creation of SISO products.

SISO-ADM-016-2013:  SISO Awards and Recognitions Program
The “SISO Awards and Recognition Program” provides award nominators and reviewers guidance for the nomination and selection of SISO awards or and recognition. This update revises the Letter of Appreciation Process, provides for standards development recognition and replaces "Awards Committee" with "Awards Board".(Update approved by the  EXCOM 6 Mar 13).

The SISO Agreement with the IEEE places requirements on SISO SAC and the three working groups under the SAC to follow policies and procedures based on IEEE-SA requirements.  The following two administrative products are the required policies and procedures.

Policies and Procedures for Standards Development for the Computer/Simulation Interoperability (C/SI) Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization (SISO) Standards Activity Committee (SAC).
These policies and procedures apply to the SAC when they are operating as a Standards Committee. These policies and procedures take precedence over any SISO administrative products.

Policies and Procedures for Standards Development for the Computer/Simulation Interoperability (C/SI) Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization (SISO) Standards Activity Committee (SAC) Standards Committee All Working Groups
These policies and procedures apply to the DIS, DSEEP, and HLA PDGs when they are operating as an IEEE Working Group. These policies and procedures take precedence over any SISO administrative products.
